About the Role
As a Senior Consultant II, Power System Studies, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing the energy grid's resilience and reliability through innovative power systems analysis. This position offers the opportunity to lead impactful projects in power generation and transmission planning, reliability assessments, and network modeling. You'll delve into dynamic studies like stability analysis, transient responses, voltage stability, and arc-flash evaluations, addressing critical challenges in today's power networks.
Utilizing industry-leading tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and DIgSILENT, you'll deliver solutions that shape the future of energy systems. Beyond technical execution, you'll guide and mentor junior consultants, ensuring technical excellence across teams, while supporting project delivery, proposal development, and business growth initiatives.
Location:
Remote, hybrid or office based roles are available across North America. We have physical offices in Kirkland, WA, Westborough, MA, Holly Springs, NC and Burnaby, Canada. Sorry but we are not able to offer sponsorship or relocation for these roles.
About You
Your expertise lies in power system analysis and studies, modeling the behavior of power systems and their components under both steady-state and dynamic conditions. You bring at least 10 years of practical experience across multiple technical and functional areas, with at least 5 of those years in a leadership role as a team or project lead. This experience is rooted in hands-on work rather than academic environments, ensuring your expertise is grounded in real-world applications.

What you’ll do
As a Senior Consultant II, you will focus on delivering impactful solutions in power systems analysis while mentoring others and driving client success. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading power system studies, including generator interconnections, voltage stability, transient stability, and short circuit analysis, ensuring compliance with reliability and regulatory standards.
- Performing advanced modeling using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and DIgSILENT, and preparing detailed technical reports.
- Managing client projects, including schedules, risks, and deliverables, while maintaining strong communication and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Mentoring junior consultants and providing technical leadership on complex assignments.
- Supporting business development by preparing proposals, identifying new opportunities, and contributing to client relationships.
What you'll need
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in Power Networks, demonstrating expertise across diverse technologies and functional areas, including at least 5 years in leadership roles such as team management, project oversight, or technical project leadership in a professional, non-academic environment.
- Advanced proficiency with network simulation software, including PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSLF, and PowerWorld.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance in all technical and project work.
- Proven ability to independently manage and deliver Power Networks projects and lead a team of consultants.
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with a strong preference for a master’s or Ph.D., especially with a specialization in power systems.
- Registered Professional Engineer status or eligibility and willingness to obtain it.
- Excellent presentation skills for representing PSC in industry forums, working groups, and conferences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear and precise technical document and email writing.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, self-motivated approach to learning and problem-solving.
- Business development experience is an asset, along with the ability to meet deadlines, exceed client expectations, and build strong relationships with global PSC resources, clients, suppliers, and partners.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US or Canada.
- Ability to travel, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for business development and consultancy work.

PSC is committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
At PSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is for each country is as follows:
$151,000 CAD to $210,000 CAD
$144,000 USD to $200,000 USD
