About the Role
As a Senior Consultant I, Power System Studies, you'll take on a leadership role in delivering advanced technical studies and guiding impactful projects and you’ll collaborate with clients to drive success in areas like generation and transmission planning, reliability assessments, and network modeling.
This role involves performing complex power system analyses, such as dynamic studies, voltage stability, arc-flash energy studies, transient stability, and feasibility assessments, while preparing detailed reports and leveraging advanced tools like PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
Beyond technical expertise, you will mentor less experienced consultants, contribute to the development of innovative solutions, and support the delivery of high-quality results that exceed client expectations. Working closely with global colleagues and managing client interactions, you’ll play a key part in advancing Power Networks projects and initiatives.
About You
You are a seasoned professional in Power Networks with a deep understanding of power system studies and a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions. Your experience includes conducting complex analyses like generator connections, voltage stability, and transient stability, using advanced simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
With strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering standards and industry regulations, you approach challenges with precision and attention to detail. You excel in collaborative environments, building strong relationships with clients and colleagues while maintaining a focus on innovation and excellence.
You bring leadership and mentoring skills, guiding less experienced consultants and fostering growth within your team. Your professional expertise is complemented by a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt to evolving project needs.
What you'll do
- Perform advanced power system analyses, including generator connections, voltage stability, arc-flash energy studies, insulation coordination, feasibility studies, and network planning.
- Conduct classical power system modeling such as load flow, transient stability, short circuit analysis, and small signal assessments, preparing detailed technical reports for all studies.
- Collaborate with global PSC colleagues to coordinate and execute studies, while developing one or more specialties in Power Networks.
- Engage with clients to define scope, develop proposals, and manage expectations through clear communication and solution-driven approaches.
- Create and manage project schedules, tracking progress and addressing actions, issues, risks, and decisions with minimal oversight.
- Contribute to technical content such as project sheets, specifications, datasheets, and case studies, while identifying opportunities to expand client initiatives.
- Mentor less experienced consultants, providing technical guidance and support, while serving as a team leader or technical reviewer on moderately sized projects.
What you'll need
- Over 7 years of experience in Power Networks, with at least one developed specialty in the field.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a preference for advanced degrees and a focus on power systems.
- Proficiency in advanced network simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering standards and industry regulations.
- Professional Engineer designation or eligibility and readiness to obtain it.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada and/or the United States.
- Ability to travel, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for business development and consultancy work.

Location:
Remote, hybrid, or office-based roles are available across North America. We have physical offices in Kirkland, WA, Holly Springs, NC, Westborough, MA and Burnaby, Canada. At this time, we are not able to offer sponsorship or relocation for these roles.

PSC is committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
At PSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current range by country is as follows:
$132, 000 CAD to $175,000 CAD
$126,900 USD to $165, 000 USD
You may also be eligible to participate in our profit share program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.-based employees also receive, per calendar year, 10 scheduled paid holidays, and 10 days of sick leave. Additionally, regular full-time employees accrue up to 15 days of paid vacation.
