PSC is seeking a Principal / Technical Director Power Systems Engineer to lead and deliver complex power system studies across the generation, transmission, and distribution sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to apply advanced analytical expertise to projects modelling how power systems and their components behave under both steady‑state and dynamic conditions.
What You’ll Do
Technical Delivery: Lead and carry out power system studies including load flow, short circuit and stability analysis, ensuring high‑quality technical outputs.
Specialised Capability Development: Grow expertise in specialised areas such as power quality or electromagnetic transient analysis.
Team Leadership & Mentoring: Mentor and coach junior engineers, supporting capability development within the Power Systems team.
Project & Client Management: Manage project deliverables, schedules and budgets while maintaining strong client communication and expectations management.
Technical Reporting & Proposals: Prepare, review and sign off detailed technical reports, and develop proposals for consulting engagements.
Collaboration & Business Support: Coordinate with PSC colleagues globally, assist with resource planning, and support business development activities.
What You’ll Bring
You will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and bring proven experience in power system analysis across generation, transmission and/or distribution networks. Demonstrated capability in Dynamic Studies is essential, along with strong proficiency in PowerFactory, PSS®E and/or PSCAD - ideally across multiple platforms. CPEng accreditation is desirable, and you must be legally authorised to work in New Zealand.
Preferred Expertise
Strong ability to work to deadlines and exceed client expectations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with clear habits for technical writing and email communication
Excellent presentation skills to represent PSC in industry forums, working groups, conferences, and client presentations
