PSC is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to play a key role in the design, testing, commissioning, and management of advanced telecommunications systems within critical infrastructure, with a strong focus on the energy sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of telecommunications networks that support electricity distribution and transmission businesses.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership in the delivery of telecommunications projects, ensuring robust and reliable systems for mission-critical energy infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, support project management, and help drive innovation within the team.
Technical Delivery: Lead and support the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications systems, focusing on IP-based networking, optical technologies, and power line carrier systems.
Network & Security Infrastructure: Assist in developing and implementing secure, high-performance communication networks for mission-critical applications.
Team Collaboration & Leadership: Work with Project Managers and the Manager of the Telecommunication and Networking team to manage and mentor a team of field‑based technicians, junior engineers, and subcontractors. You’ll ensure efficient project execution, strong cross‑functional communication, and the highest standards of quality across all deliverables.
Project Support: Contribute to network infrastructure upgrades and support services, with a focus on LAN/WAN design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Quality Assurance: Participate in technical reviews, security audits, and quality assurance for all related documentation.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the ongoing operation and management of ICT infrastructure supporting real-time business systems.
Occasional travel and after-hours work may be required to meet project milestones.
What You’ll Bring
You will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience), proven experience in telecommunications, and strong expertise in network and security infrastructure. Essential skills include deep knowledge of IP-based systems (MPLS, PDH/SDH, DWDM, LAN/WAN), proficiency with VHF, UHF, fibre, microwave, power line carrier technologies, and DC power systems. Experience with SCADA, protection signaling, and real-time telemetry networks is highly desirable.
Preferred Expertise
Demonstrated experience in testing, fault finding, and commissioning telecommunications networks, including Factory or Site Acceptance Testing.
Background in project and design management, with a track record of supporting complex network infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, distributed energy resources (DERMS), and ICT infrastructure management.
Proficiency in CAD tools and familiarity with electricity network operations and SCADA control systems.
